Breath - A Beth Moore Study

Campus: Oakmont
Meeting Time: Wed, 7:00 PM
Location: Café
Childcare: Yes
Type: Women

There’s a very big difference between being created by God and being invaded by God. The person, the work and the power of the Holy Spirit is the life of God in us. This study examines His work in our lives. Its title is drawn from the words of John 20:22 which records that Jesus breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” Our times together will inspire us to live dependently upon the power and presence of God’s Spirit.

Requirements: The study guide, Breath by Beth Moore, will be available for purchase.

Childcare: Yes
Type: Spiritual Growth

If you’ve been following Jesus for a while, you’ve likely heard that He made a bold ask of His first followers that still holds true for us today. Jesus left clear instructions that we are to go into all the world and “make disciples”. But what does that look like in our generation? How do I help others take new steps of faith when I’ve not yet “arrived” myself? This group is designed to equip you to effectively help others to follow Jesus – and along the way you’ll grow in your commitment too! You don’t have to have all the answers to assist others, but it is helpful to feel comfortable and confident by sharpening your skills. Our times together will focus on empowering you to feel competent in coaching others to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.

Requirements: The books, Faith Coaching: A Conversational Approach to Helping Others Move Forward In Faith by Chad Hall, Bill Copper and Kathyrn McElveen and Learning To Follow Jesus by Daniel McNaughton and Bryan Koch will be available for purchase.

Raising a Modern Day Knight

What does it mean to be a man? Moreover, how does a father instill these qualities in his son? By raising a modern-day knight. Beginning with a biblical perspective of manhood, author-pastor Robert Lewis shares a unique approach to shaping a boy into a man by equipping him with three essential elements: a vision, a code of conduct, and a cause in which to invest his life. Complete with ceremonial ideas to celebrate accomplishments and ingrain them in his mind, this insightful study will help us raise our boys to be chivalrous, godly men.

It should also cause us to focus on our present with eternity in view and produce a great passion for mission because we understand the consequences for those who do not believe. Come and experience all these things as we continue to take a devotional look at this book together!

The Anvil

Campus: Mills
Meeting Time: Mon, 7:00 PM
Location: Room 5
Childcare: No
Type: Men

Want to learn how to become a true warrior—a man of God who seeks righteousness? In the first five weeks of this semester, we’ll help you unpack your true identity in Christ and teach you how to fight for what’s right, including the state of your heart, the quality of your marriage, and the spiritual health of your family. Has hypocrisy crept into your life? It doesn't just happen overnight. Drifting into hypocrisy is a long, drawn-out journey away from God's best for your life and toward a two-faced existence. How do you know when your inner self has deteriorated when you've become an expert at presenting a faithful-looking façade? Hold up the mirror of God's word and take a good look. Acting like a Christian and saying all the right words sometimes leads to nothing more than empty piety. If you want to live that vibrant life and if you want to be truly blessed, you must go after the disciplines of genuine faith. In the remaining seven weeks of the semester, we’ll follow along the road toward truth and explore the disciplines of personal Bible study, personal prayer, fasting, fellowship, and service for Christ. Become the real deal. Be authentic.

Requirements: Two books, Fight: Winning the Battles that Matter Most by Craig Groeschel and Authentic – Developing The Disciplines Of A Sincere Faith by James MacDonald, will be available for purchase.

The Armor of God

Campus: Mills
Meeting Time: Thu, 10:30 AM
Location: Room 5
Childcare: No
Type: Women

All day, every day, an invisible war rages around you — unseen, unheard, yet felt throughout every aspect of your life. A devoted, devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on everything that matters to you: your heart, your mind, your marriage, your children, your relationships, your resilience, your dreams, your destiny. But his battle plan depends on catching you unaware and unarmed. If you're tired of being pushed around and caught with your guard down, this study is for you. The enemy always fails miserably when he meets a woman dressed for the occasion. The Armor of God, more than merely a biblical description of the believer's inventory, is an action plan for putting on and developing a personalized strategy to secure victory.

Requirements: The Armor of God workbook by Priscilla Shirer will be available for purchase.
